Dheeraj is an entrepreneur who has built and led companies in the mobile technology, software and services sectors over the last two decades. He established Altruist Technologies in 2005 launching a voice based social network for mobile phones. Beginning with the Indian market, the social network reached more than 10 million paid subscribers across 25 developing countries and clocked upwards of a million daily minutes. From 2009 onwards, he focused on growing Altruist through acquiring and integrating technology assets in India, Europe and the Middle East. These assets represent a wide spectrum of venture funded, listed and founder managed companies at various stages of growth.

The first acquisition was Nexus Venture Partners backed Mobile2Win. The key companies acquired include Teligent – Europe's leading voice mail and voice messaging provider, Info2cell – Middle East's leading content aggregator, Bubble Motion – funded by Singtel and rated amongst the top social messaging startups of 2015 by Forbes, iConnectiva – a data analytics, revenue assurance and fraud management company. These acquisitions have all been turned into stable, profitable enterprises with an average payback period of 24 months. Altruist Group currently has a presence in over 50 countries with 700 employees and over $10 million of annual operating profit.

He has also worked as an operating consultant with venture capital firm, Matrix Partners India beginning in 2014, based in Mumbai, where he was involved in evaluating investment opportunities and portfolio management. Prior to establishing Altruist, he founded and spearheaded Cellebrum in 2003, and worked as the VAS and Roaming head for mobile operator Spice Telecom starting in 2000. He has also completed stints with the Industry Association CII and the animation and e-learning company Tata Interactive Systems, as well as multiple consulting assignments in FMCG, Automobile and BFSI sectors in the late 1990s.

Dheeraj graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra in 1996 and then completed his MBA at IIM Kolkata in Marketing and Strategy in 1998. His social endeavors include sponsoring a charitable school and hospital managed closely by his parents both of whom are educators. He has been a national level athlete and was active in multiple literary and cultural activities.
