Rishi has been investing in India for two decades. He founded Epiq Capital in 2016 to invest in growth and later stage technology companies and partner with exceptional entrepreneurs.
Over the last decade he was the Cofounder and Managing Director of Matrix Partners India, which he built ground up into one of the leading venture capital firms starting in 2006. At Matrix India he instituted an exceptional entrepreneur centric investment approach, built an entrepreneurial team and culture, and invested early in a number of marquee consumer mobile and product companies. He is a board member at Dailyhunt and Mswipe, and previously W Women’s Wear (exited to TA Associates) and Five Star Business Finance.
Previously he was a Managing Director at WestBridge Capital where he helped establish the Silicon Valley office in 2001. In 2004, he saw the inflection point to a domestic market focused Indian opportunity and moved back to India. He started his career at Indocean Ventures in a nascent Indian private equity industry in 1996. Rishi has also worked early in his career at Apax Partners as well as management consulting firms McKinsey & Co. and A.T. Kearney.
He graduated from Northwestern University with a BA with Distinction in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics in 1995. He completed his MBA at the Wharton School with Distinction in Finance in 2000 and is a recipient of the Ford Fellowship, which is awarded to the #1 ranked first year student.
